Do your part for a greener campus

As of March 2020, a number of dedicated and labelled bins for different types of waste are being installed across campus.

This pilot project aims to heighten awareness on waste separation and to test any issues before the system is implemented throughout the entire campus.

Pilot areas are: Gateway, Administration, Students House and FEMA, as well as Quadrangle and Gateway Outdoor areas.

Staff, students and visitors are strongly encouraged to make use of these waste separation bins and do their part towards preventing waste whenever possible and separating any waste generated for recycling purposes.

Which bins should you use to dispose of what?

The Plastics bin is for clean bottles, cups, bottle caps, plastic bags and disposables, but not jablo.

The Metals bin is for clean cans, food tins, jar lids, and spray cans but not electronic waste.

The Glass bin is for bottles and jars but not lightbulbs.

The Organics bin is for cooked and raw food, teabags, coffee, soiled napkins and leaves.

The Paper bin is for clean paper such as newspapers, magazines, small pieces of cardboard and food cartons.

This means there will be fewer bins for Mixed waste, to discourage the generation of waste to landfill.
