The Department of Classics & Archaeology within the Faculty of Arts is proudly announcing that the University of Malta’s archaeology project on the Phoenician Shipwreck found off the coast of Xlendi, Gozo can now be accessed in an interactive way via the prestigious Google Arts & Culture website.
In a timely manner, Google has launched the UM’s Phoenician Shipwreck Project, which was discovered some 100m deep in Gozo. Amongst the remains, the team has discovered and since started excavating various Phoenician Amphora dating back around 2700 years and which have been sitting on the seabed ever since.
The University’s work and discoveries can now be enjoyed by a global audience. This is a great opportunity for people all over the world, seeking to satisfy their cultural appetites from the comfort of their homes.
